What is a DLL?

A DLL is a library that contains code and data that can be used by more than one program at the same time. For example, in Windows operating systems, the Comdlg32 DLL performs common dialog box related functions. Therefore, each program can use the functionality that is contained in this DLL to implement an Open dialog box. This helps promote code reuse and efficient memory usage. By using a DLL, a program can be modularized into separate components. For example, an accounting program may be sold by module. Each module can be loaded into the main program at run time if that module is installed. Because the modules are separate, the load time of the program is faster, and a module is only loaded when that functionality is requested. Additionally, updates are easier to apply to each module without affecting other parts of the program. For example, you may have a payroll program, and the tax rates change each year. When these changes are isolated to a DLL, you can apply a

Wise Hotkey Returns That “One Key Press Does the Job” Feeling

WiseCleaner releases a new Windows hotkey manager - Wise Hotkey. The program allows a user to quick launch any app, folder or website in a blink with just one press of the keyboard shortcut. Despite ever evolving operating systems, applications and technologies, users seem to still struggle to fulfill their everyday tasks easier and faster. Many apps around promise to solve such and such job in one click, one tap, one key press etc., but only few of them really do. Wise Hotkey, a new app by system utility software market leader, the WiseCleaner company, is definitely keeps its word. The tool allows a user to quick launch any application, open any folder, switch to any task or open any website in literally one press of a shortcut. How is that? The secret is the unique customized shortcuts that can be assigned to apps, folders or internet resources. Having spared a

4 Methods to Log Out in Windows 8 and 10

1. Sign Out Using the Start Menu Starting with Windows 8, Microsoft moved the sign out option from the Power button on the Start menu. They also started calling it “sign out” instead of “log off.” I’m almost embarrassed to admit how many times I clicked on the Start menu’s Power button, thinking I had just overlooked it. Now, you access the sign out option by clicking your user account name at the very top of the Start menu. Logically, it makes sense. Power options affect the computer and user options–such as changing account settings and switching users–are grouped under the user name. The trouble is, they didn’t make it obvious the user name was something to click on and gave no indication about where the sign out option had moved. 2. Sign Out Using the Power Users Menu The Power Users menu was introduced in Windows 8, and is one of the handier new additions to the taskbar. You can access it by right-clicking the Start button or pressing Windows+X on your keyboard.

How to Refresh Windows 10

In Windows 8, a Refresh was a Reset, but with keeping your personal files. The Refresh option relied on a recovery image provided by the manufacturer and would thus re-install bloatware that came with the computer. As we’ve learned above, you can keep your files when you do a Reset in Windows 10. And seemingly just to confuse you further (or finally simplify things), Microsoft released a Refresh tool for Windows 10 that works slightly different than what we know from Windows 8. The Windows 10 Refresh Tool requires an Internet connection and approximately 3 GB of available storage space because it downloads the latest version of Windows 10 before refreshing your PC. This ensures that your fresh Windows 10 installation will be completely free of manufacturer bloatware, though you will still find Microsoft bloatware. A Windows 10 Refresh will not re-install any of your applications and to re-install hardware drivers, you may have to run Windows Update under Settings > U

How to See How Long Until Your Laptop Is Fully Charged

In a hurry? Need to get out of the house, but want to make sure you have a fully charged laptop with you before you hit the road? Need to know how long it’s going to take for your battery to suck in all that sweet, sweet juice? Here’s how to check how long your laptop will take to get a full charge on a Mac or PC. On PC, your first option is to simply mouse over the battery icon while plugged into power. This will give you a quick glance at the time, but if you want to sit there and watch it as it goes (as it turns out, a watched pot can still boil), head to Settings on your device, then choose System. From there, click Battery Saver from the left menu and you can watch the countdown to a full charge. On Mac, click the battery icon on your menu bar to see how much time remains until it’s fully charged. Unlike Windows, the pop out window stays open until you click off it. You can also go to System Preferences, then Energy Saver to see the info.

Why is Pokemon Go so famous?

Image
Pokémon is one of the best games that came out for Nintendo systems, and it has been popular with kids and adults alike with a lot of strategy based action in the game and in the anime. Pokémon Go is extremely trendy as you get to walk everywhere and earn stuff by visiting places and battling trainers by meeting them in person. And the fact you can obtain and hatch eggs with real life steps is quite a milestone too because the core series didn't do that with the pedometer function. But the downside to all of this is they still have a long way to go in order to perfect this app because they still have lots of bugs in it to fix. http://www.euask.com/topic/6761-Why-is-Pokemon-Go-so-popular

How often do you buy a new computer?

enough to buy once powerful power supply and the best (by far) processor (course, and the motherboard and all, to ensure the full performance of the processor). Then I change the video card, depending on the issue of new DirectX API. it is if you want to play with better graphics (again, for now). If you just simply sit in social networks, or watch movies. can, in general, do not change until you get bored or do not break at all. for 15 years, I have changed only 1 time a computer, but about 5 video cards (including because of their breakdowns). more:  http://www.euask.com/topic/6801-How-often-do-you-buy-a-new-computer

What will happen after i delete cookies?

In a simple way, cookies are used to remember you for when you return to a website that you have been to once before, so if you enter log in details with ID and password, it will remember it and you won't need to enter your log in for next time you visit, deleting cookies is 100% safe to delete, it just remembers your preferences that is basically all. so delete all cookies as much as you like, it is as safe as anything.... There are two types of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are created temporarily in your browser's subfolder while you are visiting a website. Once you leave the site, the session cookie is deleted. On the other hand, persistent cookie files remain in your browser's subfolder and are activated again once you visit the website that created that particular cookie. A persistent cookie remains in the browser's subfolder for the duration period set within the cookie's file.  http://www.euask.com/topic/678

Why Did Microsoft Disable System Restore?

Microsoft hasn’t really explained why it’s not enabling System Restore by default. However, we do have some idea. System Restore can use quite a bit of disk space when it creates those snapshots, and Microsoft is trying to get Windows 10’s disk space requirements down. Microsoft wants Windows 10 to run on devices with as little as 16 GB of internal storage — all the better to compete with Chromebooks and cheap Android tablets. System Restore is also less necessary thanks to other features in Windows 10 that can quickly get your Windows system back to a fresh state without a full reinstallation of Windows. Windows 10’s PC reset feature that will give you a fresh Windows system without necessarily wiping your files is one big help here.

Is a Solid State Drive for You?

Is an SSD for you? Check all that apply and get ready to bust out your credit card: You want nearly instant boot times: You can go from a cold boot to browsing the web in a matter of seconds with an SSD; the same window is often minutes with a traditional HDD. You want extremely fast access for general applications and gaming: We’ve said it many times already but SSDs are blistering fast. You want a quieter and less power hungry computer: As highlighted above, SSDs are silent and use significantly less power. You’re able to use two drives; one for your OS and one for your media: Unless you’re storing just a handful of family pictures and a CD rip or two, you’ll need a more affordable traditional HDD to store your big files. You’re willing to pay a significant premium for the benefits of rocking an SSD: This is the biggest one by far as the premium per GB is currently around 3000%. While the performance increase is enormous 3000% more per GB is nothing

What is the best browser for a slow computer?

One of the best and high performance browser that I use since I had my Pentium III PC is Mozilla Firefox. It uses a little amount in your memory unlike chrome that utilizes most of it. Firefox relies on a robust extension system to allow users to modify the browser according to their requirements instead of providing all features in the standard distribution. That is one of the more features that firefox can offer you. Read more answers: http://www.euask.com/topic/6752-What-is-the-best-browser-for-a-slow-computer

3 Ways To Speed Up Your Browser?

While some of that slowness can stem from issues unrelated to the browser, like ISP and computer hardware, there are some steps on how to speed up browser speeds. Keep Fewer Tabs Open Each tab hogs up a bit of RAM and when you have too many tabs open your computer will be bogged down. It doesn’t matter which browser you’re using; sure, some browsers may be more efficient with their RAM usage, but ALL browsers will take up more resources with each new tab. God forbid some of those tabs are Flash-based, because those take up even more RAM! Use bookmarks if you need to save items. If you want to mark an interesting article for later reading, use an extension. Use Fewer Extensions and Addons One of the biggest reasons why users will choose one browser over another is the plugin selection. Firefox calls them “addons,” Chrome calls them “extensions,” and other browsers will use other terms. But they all accomplish the same thing: extensibility and customization for your

The Various Types of RAM

DDR RAM, EDO, FPM, SDRAM, SIMM, DIMM… it can all be a bit confusing, especially if this is your first exposure to computer hardware. These terms all describe different types of RAM modules that each differ in their physical properties. Generally, RAM modules fall into two types of categories: SIMM (Single In-line Memory Module) DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module) SIMMs were first released in 1983 and are not commonly used today. With the advent of 64-bit processors, the 32-bit wide SIMMs had to be installed in pairs to remain compatible. Consequently, SIMMs have been replaced by 64-bit wide DIMMs, which can be installed individually. EDO (Extended Data Out) and FPM (Fast Page Mode) are types of SIMM, while DDR (Dual Data Rate) and SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM) fall into the DIMM category. There’s also a type called SO-DIMMs (Small Outline DIMMs) which are smaller in size and commonly found in laptops. You might have noticed that DDR RAM comes in different ve

What’s the difference between Wise Care free and pro version?

There is the chart for your reference. For those who want just want a privacy protector or just don’t know how to make your computer faster, the free version is good to go. For more powerful functions, the pro version is worth the pa

What is the Registry?

The Windows Registry is a hierarchical database that contains all of the configurations and settings used by components, services, applications, and pretty much everything in Windows. The registry has two basic concepts to be aware of: Keys and Values. Registry Keys are objects that are basically folders, and in the interface even look exactly like folders. Values are a bit like the files in the folders, and they contain the actual settings. When you open the Registry Editor for the first time, you’ll see a treeview on the left-hand pane that contains all of the keys, with values on the right-hand side. It’s about as simple as an interface gets. The root-level keys that you see in the left-hand side of the screenshot are important. Each one houses a different set of information, so depending on what you are trying to do, you’ll need to know which section to browse down into. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Windows uses this section to manage file type associations, and it is us
